Decatur Events

Decatur has lots of great, big, fun events for kids of all ages. I know when they are and I write about them most of the time.

Decatur also has lots of fun, small events for kids of all ages. I don’t know when they all are and so I can’t write about them most of the time. Here’s where you come in…

If you know about a great event for kids in Decatur and I haven’t written about it, post it here. I’d love to hear about it and so would the other Decatur moms, dads and kids!

Thanks, and I’ll see you there!

It’s time for the first SpokesMAMA Contest of 2011!

Last year we received such a great response to the contests including getting some press about it in Professional Photographer Magazine! This year promises to be even more exciting with a total of 6 contests for children ranging in age from newborn to 8 years old.

This month’s contest is for MAMA’s of children ages 6 months to 2 years old. We’re looking for MAMA’s who value quality portrait photography, love our style, and want to help us grow by sharing their pictures and their experience with all their friends. All the details are on the application so click for more information. And good luck!

    Application deadline is February 17th.

  8. Hi Decatur Mom. As a fellow Decatur Mom, whose children attend The Museum School of Avondale Estates, I wanted to let everyone know about a brand new event coming to our community on October 1. It is called Kidsfest–Explore Our Little Museum Town. It is going to be held outdoors at the intersection of Pine and Franklin Streets in Avondale Estates from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is FREE (great news for parents) and activity bands will be sold onsite for a nominal fee (optional, of course). There will be four, hands-on kids activity zones that spotlight performing arts, visual arts, sports and wellness, and food (yum)! The nationally known band Laughing Pizza will headline the event and the Sizzle, Hiss, Pop Band will be there as well. Word is that the Braves will have their inflatable batting cage there along with lots of balloons, bubbles, dance troops, jumping, shaking, and all-in-all fun for all ages! Check out the website for more info at http://www.kidsfestga.com . We hope that folks can come out and join in the fall fun!

      Hi Charlotte,

We love the pumpkin festival at Stone Mountain Park. It’s a short drive from Decatur, the weather is great in the park at this time of year and there is plenty to do with the kids. But I did stumble upon another web site that has a list of the pumpkin farms in the Atlanta area. You may want to check it out and if you find something that you like please let us know about it…thanks!
