Decatur Mom One Year Anniversary

It’s hard to believe that its been one year since I wrote my first article on Decatur Mom. When I started this blog to share my experiences with raising two young children in the City of Decatur I had no idea that it would connect me with so many wonderful moms, dads, small business owners, bloggers, community organizers, event planners and educators in Decatur and beyond. I just wanted to take time out to thank you all for your supportive ideas, comments and feedback during my parental journey. I’m looking forward to many more years of sharing and connecting with you.

Many Decatur Mom readers may not have found me without the help of popular blogs like Decatur Metro, inDecatur or Next Stop…Decatur. Along the way, new blogs emerged to offer additional Decatur coverage like The Decatur Minute and CSD Mom’s blog. I feel very lucky to be a part of the Decatur blogosphere, especially at a time when there are so many challenges and opportunities in our neighborhood and the larger Metro Altanta community. Thanks again for your continued support.

Here is a recap of your favorite Decatur Mom articles from the past year based on your activity and visits:

  1. Congratulations! Looks like we share a birthday for our blogs. I opened up shop last May, too.

You should know that your blog has been a help to those of us in central/northern parts of DeKalb! I pickup you syndication and distribute it via CommunityRadar.com. A lot of us outside of Decatur frequent the city’s events and entertainment.

Our site is community news sourced from the community. This year, I’m running a quarterly and annual award for the most popular contribution. The 1st quarter award went to John Heneghan in Dunwoody. He directed his $75 award to the 3-Day Walk.

With the quality of your blogggin, I’m sure you’ll be among the most popular items at Community Radar – thank you for sharing you experience with your community and here’s hoping to see one of your items at the top of our charts at Community Radar! -Kim

The Grand Opening of the new Glenlake Bathhouse and Pool, originally scheduled for Friday, May 22 at 5 p.m., has been postponed until June 5, 2009. Completion of the new bathhouse has been delayed by the numerous rain days which occurred this spring.

The Glenlake Pool and Bathhouse Grand Opening celebration will be held on Friday, June 5, 2009 from 5 – 7:30 p.m. and will include games, prizes, refreshments, and free admission. Details will be updated and confirmed on the City of Decatur website at http://www.decaturga.com.
