News Decatur Moms Should Know: Today, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of a popular brand of crib mattresses manufactured by Simmons Kids. About 20,000 units of Simmons Kids Crib Mattresses manufactured by Simmons Kids were recalled due to a possible entrapment hazard. According to the CPSC report, a 6-month old baby became wedged between the mattress and the crib frame but was removed unharmed. If you purchased any of the Simmons Kids brand mattresses listed below between July 1, 2006 and March 23, 2008 the Safety Commission recommends that you measure the mattress to be sure that it meets the 27 1/4 inch minimum width requirement. And if the mattress does not meet this requirement, the Safety Commission recommends that you immediately stop using the mattress and contact Simmons Kids at (800) 810-8611 or www.simmonskids.com to return the product.
