School is out and you should be also – enjoying the great weather, longer days and relaxing ways that summer brings. If you’re at all like me, relaxing means spending less time in the kitchen and more time with your family. Here are a few great reasons not to cook…
Kids Eat Free at these great City of Decatur locations:
Mondays: Matador Mexican Cantina, 350 Mead Rd – kids can actually eat free Monday thru Thursday when you arrive before 7p.m.
Tuesdays: Cresent Moon, 174 W Ponce De Leon Ave – my kids really go for the mac and cheese
Wednesdays: Little Azio, 340 W Ponce De Leon Ave – the mini cheese pizzas are even yummy for adult tummies
Thursdays: Captain D’s, 1487 Church St – my 4-yr old is still lamenting the closing of her favorite Decatur restaurant, The Angel. We can’t walk past there without her asking when she’ll be able to go in and have fish and chips again. For now, she’ll take a little Captain D’s to get over her fish and chips cravings but if anyone knows if the restaurant replacing the The Angel will have the same English pub menu PLEASE let me know.
What About Fridays? I have not found any free Friday food, but it’s a great day to grab dinner at one of the Decatur square restaurants, then let the kids romp around with many, many other little ones burning off that last bit of energy before bed by running around the fountain and bandstand. Some of the more kid-friendly restaurants on the Decatur square include Sweet Melissa’s, Raging Burrito and Chick Fil A, just off the square at 105 E Trinity Pl.

Saturdays at Moes: You get a free kids meal with every adult meal at the Moes on the corner of Church and N.Decatur
For the record, I don’t have kids, but if I did, I’d be all about free kids meal nights. Eating out is expensive!
That said, I also work at a restaurant that has a free kids meal night and would like to give a friendly reminder that your servers are working as hard as usual (probably harder, since lots of little kids usually means lots more cleanup) for lower sales (two free kids meals results in at least $10 less in sales per table). You’re saving money already, so show a little love by basing your tip on what the total would have been if you paid for the meals – the extra $2 or so per table DOES make a difference.

Thank you! I am planning a trip/vacation with three boys, and this was my first stop! Looking for where I can feed them free! Does the local Pizza Hut do Tuesday nights free? Ours does, and I thought it might be throughout. Thanks!
Try Maddio’s Pizza Joint in the Toco Hills Shopping Center.
